Meet the Creators

Silke Gerlich

Silke studied Biology at RWTH Aachen and University of Cologne, Germany and holds a PhD in Molecular Plant Biology. After graduation, she gathered several years of experience as an educational consultant. Silke joined the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration in 2021, acting as a data steward and trainer. In her free time, you can find Silke in the bouldering gym, giving yoga classes or hiking in the mountains. She understands herself as a life-long learner and volunteers as a mentor for Arbeiterkind, a NGO supporting students from educationally disadvantaged families.

Annika Strupp

Annika is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Digital Data Management at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. From 2021 to 2023, she worked as a data steward (and trainer) in the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration Hub Information, hosted at Forschungszentrum Jülich. Previously, she was a web analytics consultant in marketing technology, but she has also been a specialist journalist in the fashion industry and a seamstress. Annika holds an engineering degree in textile and clothing technology. In her free time, she is an avid reader and internet history enthusiast.
