# (MATH 308) Mathematics Using Technologies

## Introduction to current math-specific software and calculators which are used in the teaching and learning of mathematics. Technology will be used to investigate topics from algebra, statistics, calculus, linear algebra, etc.

## Course Outcomes

The goal of this course is to expose students to different technologies that can help solve math problems or teach math. The math department has established eight outcomes for graduating majors. The table below indicates which outcomes will be addressed in Math 308.

- Proficiency in algebra as well as trigonometry is expected by the end of the course.
- Some calculus problems which are difficult to solve by hands will be discussed and solved using technology.
- Knowing definitions and certain theorems will be expected but we will not do many proofs. However, we will verify identities.
- Proofs will be minimal to none.
- Throughout the course students will demonstrate mathematical thinking in written format.
- There will be application problems throughout the course.
- Use of calculators will be encouraged throughout the course.
- Student will see where trig is applied throughout the course.
